Travis Lloyd

Travis Lloyd was my best friend from the time I was 15 years old, and for more than 20 years, he remained one of the most important people in my life. No matter how much life changed around us, he was always someone I could count on.

Travis had the kind of presence that filled a room the moment he walked into it. He was the life of the party without even trying. Loud laughter, endless stories, unforgettable energy...people naturally gravitated toward him. But underneath all of that was someone deeply loyal (I do not mean in relationships) and protective. There were times in my life when he stood between me and things that could have hurt me, simply because of who he was. He looked out for the people he loved.

Travis loved my little girl {Octavia}...his "little princess." The moment she came into the world, he adored her completely. He was gentle with her, protective of her, and so proud of every little thing she did. Watching him with her showed a softer side of him that was impossible not to love. She lit up whenever he was around, and he had a way of making her feel endlessly special and loved. The bond they shared was something pure and unforgettable, and I know that the love he gave her will always remain a part of her story.

Losing someone who has walked beside you for most of your life leaves the kind of ache that never fully disappears. There are memories attached to every phase of growing up, every version of myself, and somehow Travis is woven into so many of them. More than grief, though, I try to hold onto gratitude. Gratitude that I got to know him, Gratitude that I got to laugh with him, and love someone so unforgettable, for so many years.

Some people are impossible to replace. Travis was one of them. And no matter how much time passes, a part of my heart will always be carrying him with me.

T.L.K 143 Always.

Grieving Someone Who's Still Alive
